“You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.” ―Morpheus to Neo, The Matrix Movie

When you take the blue pill, you are not alone. You can easily find your rhythm of life where you live, among the many societal conventions and norms. Strength in numbers gives you a sense of acceptance and security. Social media affirms your thoughts, beliefs and choices within and among those like-minded friends.

You have no desire to “rock the boat” in any area of your life from your work to politics, religion or education.

Yet, like most things, there is often also a dark side to taking the blue pill; the side almost no one really wants to see or admit. But if you are curious about what that might be, determine for yourself if any of these apply to you.

You:

  • Go along to get along.
  • Are quick to blame others when things don’t go your way.
  • Hold grudges.
  • Almost never self-examine when things go wrong.
  • Care more about your image/social standing than your personal integrity.
  • Seek power over another/others so you can control their behavior.
  • Place an emphasis on having access to increased consumption.

Some people, as they grow older become disenchanted with the unspoken rules of the blue pill they have lived by all their life. So now they think again; and they wonder how their life might change for the better if they took the red pill ….. since, as it turns out, the “blue pill” life ended up different than it was cracked up to be.
